Welcome to the MIA Branch website

History

This new page has been started to display some of the early history of the MIA Branch as well as a place to host various documents and records of interest which are aquired from time to time.
While information is fairly light on at this early stage we are appealing for current and past members to help with contributing information. So if you are reading this and have any photos, newspaper cuttings etc or if you know someone who does, please sent it in or contact the executive.
We don't need to keep the originals as we can copy or scan them and return this valuable information.
Alternatively, if you would like to pen a few lines about the 'early days' then please do so and pass it on to one of the branch executive.
As information comes to hand it will be added here so that everyone can share in the story of how the MIA Branch came about and has since evolved into what it is today.
To get the ball rolling here are a couple of items from the local newspaper dating back to 1996 which document the formation of the MIA Group as it was known then and some of the original members and their motorbikes at the time.

Australia Day Award Nomination - 2011

The MIA Branch's Annual Old Priory Rally has been nominated for a community award at the Griffith Australia Day 2011 celebrations!
The nomination has been received in recognition for the fundraising activities at the Old Priory Rally, promoting the excellent food & wine from the MIA and for encouraging tourists (such as the Yarra Ranges branch members) to visit the region.
A copy of the letter advising of the nomination is available by clicking here.
Also available is a copy of the item from the Area News - click here.
While the Branch wasn't successful in taking out the overall award for the category, we did receive an Achievement Certificate, a copy of which is available by clicking here.
